Pete,a boy from Bkk who fished BSR at least once a week, tried out Catfishing with me when visited his 2nd home here.Knowing my team won so many top prize n bagging 100 of thousand bht each yr,he requested me to give him some lesson about my trick and tried out my Super Bait.Though I normally do not expose my tactique to anyone but dont mind if a kid his age willing to learn. To a shock!! bring along with him a Shimano Stella!!.With 200 m 50lbs braid. This is the type of investment Thai parent willing to pay if any activity can avoid their kids from vice. This Bait is specially for Chiang Mai BOR SANG LAKE.Soonest it hit the water,it will sink slowly n most of the time those catfish will hit it b4 it hit the bottom. If no bite within 5 mins I will retrieve and change a new one. Beautiful reel match with nice Saltica rod another hook up again Power rod match with powerful reel...what a good match And... a nice fish some more this one with my spare tackle. No rest when fishing with me.But such energetic boy like Pete ...no problem...only ask for more. After 14 fishes on first half of the day we stop to count. All I can say is this combination set of tackle is ...beyond Superb...

Cheers I dont mind if those visited me does not live in the north.HaHa.Over here we competed shoulder to sholder.Very few will win if compete without a team.Normally we will have at least 5 in a group. When we draw a spot we have will have 2 BODYGUARDS on both L/R to prevent over cross from other competitors.Unless you r lucky, very few will ever win if you got less than 20 hook up in any match.Over here normally we go by the exact weight. Not the biggest. Such as.nearest to 2 kg or 3 kg.N the last person sweep the top cash.Using only digital scale. 2 weeks ago my team just won MAE SAI PATIN OPEN.They swept 100,000 Bht 1st prize. Frankly you can make more money compete in catfishing than sebarau or toman.Every yr there is the biggest match which may bag Bht 1,000,000 for any winner/s.Even Tor Sad catfish comp.also pay out about the same prize as Patin where else Toman n Sebarau only win you a trophy which cant feed your family at all!!

Breath in breath out he only talk catfishing. After I took him, he went back again the next day!!He is fast learning,he also caught many on his own.Brought along my Super Bait n apply a little trick n tecnique ..its a sure many hook up.Bite On The Drop is best for those expensive tackle. You dont need to put on the ground to get it scratches or dirt especially this rainy day.N the bite rate also faster than luring. The best part is you will see those fishes scramble after it when the bait hit the water. No waitng game here. Its boring.

Congratz on the MAE SAI PATIN OPEN compy. I am sure there were even more such results that you are too modest to highlight. Guess the competitiveness is more important than the cash reward but all the same, who would not be happy if there are cash rewards in them. Cheers bro

Cheers bro Staticaly,my teammates are unemployed, only 3 that compete in toman n sebarau. But during weekend, they are cash hunters. Is their bread n butter.During 2009 was their best harvest. After devident each made around Bht700,000 from patin match. For country boys like them live very modestly its easy live.No shop to open ,only fishing every day. Those single even better!!Nothing to responsible.Only travel from one privince to another during weekend hunt for cash prize.

Entrance fees is from Bht350-15,000 / rod depend on the prize. Most match attract up to 300 ppls.

Hi Pat,
My group is thinking of going to Thailand to try out Mekong Cat fishing.
Can you advice type of set-up to bring along and most important, how's the arrangement including price for maybe 2 nights fishing?
Thanks!

Thanks! Which part of thailand r u going?I live in Chaing Mai.If you come here, please mail me. Personally I use n supply my clients with Baitrunner(either Shimano or Penn)Fishing here I prefer 2pc 9 footer. If you go BSR suggest jigging or boat rod.In Chiang Mai you need to cast some distance n playing with long rod is more fun to me.Bor sang Lake only open from 8:00-22:00.For private lake I frequent this place most if target Mae Kong Cat. You can email me to boomtownfishing@gmail.com
