She graduated from Morrisville High School in 1947 and earned her BA in Medical Secretarial Science from Rider College in 1949. Marilyn worked as a Medical Secretary until the birth of her first child.

She was a dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bethlehem since 1954, where she served on the Board of Deacons in 1966. Marilyn was also involved in various volunteer activities, including the St. Luke’s Ladies Aid Society and the Cort Center for Handicapped Horseback Riding.
